AIR TERMINAL BUILDING PRESENT AND FUTURE

Present time air terminal was built in 1936 and its total surface was at that time of 725 square meters. In 1976 a passenger lounge extension was constructed which added a surface of 460 square meters to the initial building, that means a total surface for passenger lounge of 1185 square meters.

Today air terminal building encloses at its ground level departure and arrival lounges with full check-in and checkout services which consist of customs, border cross police officers, border cross sanitary police officers, an information desk, airport security control service, a restaurant, rest room.

The number of passengers that could be handled in arrival and departure procedures is 50 persons per hour.

Taking in to account the geographical positions of Arad International Airport, actual needs of air traffic increase and prospective of its development, it appears as a necessity the extended and modernization of the today air terminal building in order to be able to support in appropriate conditions domestic and international traffic which runs daily on Arad Airport.

The air terminal building will be extended in the near future in the actual surface of the airport by the increasing of built area of the ground floorwith 1215 square meters connected with entire reorganization of space in existing air terminal building. In the space constituted this way there will be organized specific services for check-in and check-out procedures in new arrival and departure lounges, for domestic and international traffic.
The future air terminal building will be also enclose at its basement a shelter connected by a tunnel to the external parking, in situations of danger.
