FREE ZONE CURTICI ARAD

The Curtici Arad Free Zone was legally founded on the base of HG nr. 449 from 8 June 1999. Having a total surface of 90 ha, the zone numbers two platforms situated near Curtici, at the border with Hungary and west side of Arad, near the runway of International Traffic Airport Arad.

In comparison with other free zones from Romania, the Curtici Arad free zone is placed, conveniently for investors, in the western part of Romania on a European route, near 4 border checkpoints, the other free zones being in the eastern and southern regions of Romania. The Curtici Arad free zone can be accessed through three out of four existent ways: railway, motorway and airway.

The youngest and the most dynamic free zone from Romania, Curtici Arad Free Zone had a more than promising launch, concessioning and renting more space for romanian and foreign investors than all other free zones did as a total.

Investors in The Curtici-Arad Free Zone benefit from the following advantages:

All legal activities can be developed within The Curtici-Arad Free Zone including the following:

- Handling, storage, sorting, measuring, packing, conditioning, processing, assembling, manufacturing, marking, testing, auctioning, selling-purchasing, expertise, repairing and dismantling of merchandises;
- Exhibition organizing;
- Stock exchange and financial/banking operations;
- Inner and international transports and forwarding;
- Leasing and conceding of land and buildings in the free zone;
- Quantity and quality control of merchandise;
- All legal Romanian and/or foreign merchandise, can be introduced in The Curtici-Arad Free Zone, to be stocked, exposed, sold, unpacked and reconditioned, sorted, combined with other foreign or Romanian merchandise, or exposed to handling and authorized industrial transformation.

HOTARAREA DE GUVERN NR. 682/1994, regarding the procedure of concessioning of lands and buildings from the free zone.

Curtici Arad Free Zone offers the following infrastructure: water, sewer, electric, telecommunication and roads infrastructure.

The Administration of The Curtici Arad Free Zone organizes concessions and land renting auctions. Services such as vamal, currency exchange
and police are provided inside the free zone perimeter.

Now, there's a total of 119.722 pm (17.35%) concessioned land to romanian and foreign companies. The contractors - 22 concession contracts, 8 renting agreements, 6 associations - had invested 17.559.100 USD and perform a large variety of activities (from manufacturing and processing to the storage and selling of goods), planning to create 1.270 new work positions.
Also, the free zone's airport platform would be operational from April 2002.


THE CONCESSION CONDITIONS:

- The minimum concession period is 10 years and the maximum is 50 years;
- The minimum requested area is 1.000 sqm;
- The minimum bidding price is:
- $ 5 / sqm / year for < 15,000 sqm;
- $ 4 / sqm / year for 15,000 sqm - 20,000 sqm;
- $ 3 / sqm / year for 20,001 sqm - 30,000 sqm;
- $ 2.5 / sqm / year for 30,001 sqm - 40,000 sqm;
- $ 2 / sqm / year for > 40,000 sqm


Auctions for rentings:

The Administration of The Curtici Arad Free Zone organizes every Thursday of the week land renting auctions.

The applicants will submit the application forms to the Free Zone Administration which must contain:

- name of the company/denomination of the applicant;
- headquarters adress, telephone, fax, telex;
- the requested area;
- types of activities intended to be proceeded;
- the length of renting;
- the minimum bidding price.
