Arad International Airport was established on actual site in 1935 when the construction of the air terminal began. Starting with 1953, the airport configuration completed with concrete runway, taxiways and apron.

Arad Airport is situated 4 km West from downtown Arad, its geographical position marked at runway center is 21°15'14" East, 43°10'35" North, 106 meter's altitude above sea level, 157 ha total surface.

Airport activity is developed following the provisions of Romanian Air Traffic Code, settlements and conventions of international aviation authorities which Romania endorsed to.
The Arad International Airport is the establishment that leads, advises and coordinated the whole air traffic activity in the airport responsibility area, for passengers and cargo transportation, in full security conditions.
